Privacy Policy

1. Who operates DentComp

DentComp is a service of Dule Labs LLC, an Illinois limited liability company. Dule Labs is accountable for personal information under its control.

2. Information we process

• Submission data: country, general region, role, specialty, experience, practice setting, employment arrangement, compensation model and amount, schedule, and benefits.
• Technical data: IP address, browser or device type, request logs, security data, and similar information processed by our hosting and abuse-prevention providers.
• Communications: your email address and message contents when you contact us.
• Administrative data: authorized moderators’ email addresses and access records.

We do not ask contributors for a name, email, employer or practice name, exact address, ZIP or postal code, government identifier, patient information, or financial-account information.

3. How and why we use information

We use information with your consent and for operational purposes to run the service, validate and moderate submissions, prevent abuse, publish generalized records and filtered benchmarks, answer requests, maintain security, and comply with law. By submitting, a contributor also authorizes Dule Labs to combine any approved submission with other contributions to create aggregated or deidentified compensation statistics, analyses, and datasets for benchmarking, labor-market research, recruiting, workforce planning, and service development.

Compensation data is self-reported. We do not make employment decisions or use the data to recommend or coordinate employer wages.

4. Publication and generalization

Submissions remain private during moderation. By submitting the form, the contributor authorizes the publication described here. If a submission is approved, DentComp may publish a generalized record containing role, specialty, region or city, exact whole years of experience, practice and employment setting, pay model, reported weekly hours, annual compensation rounded to the nearest thousand, and the submission’s relative age. There is no minimum submission threshold for publishing a generalized individual record; medians and percentiles require at least five matching records. Some combinations may be distinctive even without a name or contact details; attempts to reidentify contributors are prohibited.

Once information is irreversibly transformed into statistics that cannot reasonably be linked to a person, it is no longer personal information.

5. Service providers and international transfers

We use Cloudflare for hosting, security, and Turnstile, and Supabase for database services and administrative authentication. These providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Dule Labs remains accountable for information transferred to its providers and limits their use through contracts and configuration.

We may also disclose information when legally required, to protect rights or safety, or in a business transaction subject to appropriate safeguards.

DentComp does not sell raw submissions, contact information, or direct identifiers. Submitting authorizes Dule Labs to use, license, or sell the resulting aggregated or deidentified statistics, analyses, and datasets to employers, researchers, consultants, and other business customers. DentComp does not currently offer these commercial products; this authorization permits their future creation.

6. Retention

• Rejected, withdrawn, and pending submissions are deleted when no longer reasonably needed for review, abuse prevention, dispute resolution, or legal compliance.
• Approved submissions are retained only while needed to publish the generalized record and produce the benchmarks to which the contributor consented. They are deleted if the contributor uses the private deletion code, if they are no longer needed, if they are found invalid, or if law requires deletion.
• Communications and compliance records are kept as needed to resolve the matter and meet legal obligations.
• Technical logs follow limited provider-configured periods and are not used by DentComp for behavioral advertising.

7. Governance, roles, and complaints

The Privacy Officer approves DentComp’s practices, oversees requests and incidents, and determines access. Only authorized personnel who need to review submissions or administer the service may access private submissions. Service providers process information only for agreed services and under applicable contractual safeguards.

A complaint may be sent to the Privacy Officer using the contact details at the bottom of this policy. We record the complaint, verify identity proportionately, review relevant systems, and communicate the decision within the period required by applicable law. If unresolved, the person may contact the applicable privacy regulator.

8. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may request access, correction, deletion, or portability, withdraw consent, object to certain processing, or complain. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a right. We may verify a request and deny it where law permits.

Canadian residents may contact our Privacy Officer and then the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the applicable provincial authority.

DentComp uses one first-party cookie, “dentcomp-currency,” for up to one year after a visitor chooses to display amounts in USD or CAD. It is used only to remember that choice, not for advertising or cross-site tracking. DentComp does not currently use targeted advertising or permit third parties to collect personal information over time and across unrelated sites for advertising. DentComp may later display contextual advertising or sponsored content. Before activating targeted-advertising, identification, location, or profiling technology, we will update this policy and provide any required notices and choices. Cloudflare may process technical and security signals for Turnstile and abuse prevention as a service provider. Because DentComp does not currently engage in cross-site tracking, browser Do Not Track signals do not change its practices; any legally recognized universal opt-out signal will be honored where applicable.

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards proportionate to risk, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security. DentComp is intended for people 18 and older and is not directed to children.

We may update this policy. We will revise the date above and provide additional notice before a material change that requires renewed consent. The English and French versions are equally authoritative.
